Massive congratulations to both Auckland Wanderers and Kiwi True Blues, both of whom will be in the draw for the next round of the 2017 ISPS Handa Chatham Cup, having both knocked out Saturday league teams from the Waikato region on their first ever appearance in NZ football’s showpiece knockout competition…
ASFA Premiership leaders Auckland Wanderers maintained their unbeaten start to the season, winning 3-1 against Te Awamutu AFC, whilst unbeaten ASFA Championship side KTB smashed Central Brown 4-0. What makes the results even more impressive is that both teams were forced to finish with only 10 men, having both lost guys to red cards during the game. Match reports to follow (please!).
Elsewhere, Chatham Cup regulars, Internationale were involved in a nine-goal thriller yesterday that required extra-time to decide the winner. Sadly, their Waikato-based opponents, the Matamata Swifts, were the team to progress to the next round, winning 5-4 (3-3 after ninety mins). Matt’s match review can already be found on our ASFA Facebook page.
Two more ASFA teams are in action in this preliminary round, both playing on the afternoon of ANZAC Day. Boh’s Celtic 1 are playing Warkworth, whilst ASFA Newbies are playing West Hamilton United (both away, both 2pm kick off). Best of luck guys from everyone involved in the ASFA!
the draw for the next round will be uploaded as soon as possible… what are the odds that Wanderers get drawn against KTB?
